|

With Everton having an impotent attack and porous defence, in addition to spending long periods of the season around the relegation zone, new signings are expected in January. And with Carlo Ancelotti now at the helm, a number of former players are expected to be linked with a move to Goodison Park.

According to Eldesmarque, Everton are interested in James Rodriguez and could make a move for the Real Madrid midfielder when the winter transfer window opens. The 28-year-old has struggled for playing time due to injury woes in recent weeks and wasn’t a regular when fit either.

James has made nine appearances in all competitions this season, amassing 422 minutes of football. He’s been substituted on and substituted off in 78% of his outings, and could be on the move as a result. The Colombian international has an asking price of £42.7m which Everton could be willing to meet.

The Toffees aren’t the only side interested in the Colombian international, however. Eldesmarque say SSC Napoli, AS Roma, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Olympique de Marseille, so Ancelotti has stiff competition to land his former player – James made 51 appearances under the Italian coach for Real (2014-2015) and Bayern (2017-2018).
