Oumar Niasse doesn’t appear to have a future at Goodison Park as Marco Silva has no place for the 29-year-old in his squad, but Everton are unlikely to get back a penny of their £16m spent three years ago as his contract expires next summer.

Overseas clubs can sign the Senegalese international on a pre-contract deal in January if they’re willing to wait until July to have him on the books – Niasse’s deal expires on June 30, 2020. English clubs can’t sign the striker on a Bosman, however, so they’d have to loan or sign him permanently.

It’s hard to see Niasse inundated with offers as he’s not been able to put himself in the shop window. The 29-year-old made only seven appearances for Everton last season and has no minutes under his belt this campaign. His last goal for the Toffees came in May 2018, so he’s gone 17 months without scoring.

Should Oumar Niasse be recalled to the Everton first-team?

It appears Everton are resigned to losing Niasse on a free transfer next summer and will allow him to leave on loan in January, taking a big financial hit in the process. Since joining from Lokomotiv Moscow in February 2016, the centre-forward has scored and created 13 goals in 39 games.
