Everton may be trying to put Oumar Niasse in the shop window after the 29-year-old was given a surprise run-out for Everton u23s on Tuesday. Niasse hasn’t played a single minute of first-team football this season, but he played a full 90 minutes in the EFL Trophy clash as Fleetwood Town won 4-0 at Goodison Park.

The Senegalese international is out of contract in July 2020, so Everton’s only hope of getting any money for Niasse is by selling him in January. Overseas clubs can agree a pre-contract deal to sign the centre-forward, but they’d have to wait until July for him to become their player. If sides put money up in January, they could sign him immediately.

Should Niasse be playing in the U23s?

Yes, so he can be sold in January

No, he is hindering the youth players

No, he should be in the first-team

Niasse has made 39 appearances in all competitions since joining Everton from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016, the last of which came against Brighton & Hove Albion on December 29, 2018. He currently finds himself behind Richarlison, Cenk Tosun, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the pecking order and is unlikely to play another minute of first-team football in an Everton shirt.

Whether he’ll leave in January remains to be seen, but Niasse is expected to leave at the end of his contract next summer regardless.
