Explained: How much Sporting CP must pay to sign Yannick Bolasie permanently

|

Deadline day saw Sporting CP sign Yannick Bolasie on a season-long loan and Record (h/t Sport Witness) have revealed that there’s a buying option attached to the deal.

The report says Sporting must pay £4m to sign the Everton winger permanently next summer, so Bolasie will have to impress if he wants to prolong his stay at the José Alvalade Stadium.

The 30-year-old doesn’t have a future at Everton after struggling for fitness and playing time since his 2016-move from Crystal Palace. Bolasie’s form fell off a cliff and he was loaned out to Aston Villa (August 25, 2018 – January 21, 2019) and RSC Anderlecht (January 31, 2019 – June 30, 2019) as a result.

His contract still has two years to run at Goodison Park, so Everton risk being  stuck with Bolasie for the final year of his deal if they can’t secure him a permanent move away.

The DR Congo international has contributed only six goals in 32 games for Everton and finds himself behind Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Alex Iwobi in the pecking order. He’s surplus to requirements under Marco Silva and is expected to leave permanently in 2020.
