Explained: How many games Marco Silva has left ‘to save Everton job’

|

According to Paul Brown of the Daily Star, Marco Silva has three games left ‘to save his job at Everton’.

Everton’s next three fixtures:

  • 19/10/19 (Premier League) Everton vs West Ham United
  • 26/10/19 (Premier League) Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton
  • 29/10/19 (EFL Cup) Everton vs Watford

The Toffees have struggled for form and find themselves in the relegation zone just two months into the season – Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League table with seven points from eight games. Only four clubs have conceded more goals (13) too.

Everton drew 0-0 at Crystal Palace (August 10), won 1-0 at home to Watford (August 17), lost 2-0 at Aston Villa (August 23), won 3-2 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers (September 1), lost 3-1 at Bournemouth (September 15), lost 2-0 at home to Sheffield United (September 21), lost 3-1 at home to Manchester City (September 28) and lost 1-0 at Burnley (October 5).

Their last win in the Premier League was nearly six weeks ago, and they’ve scored only two goals since then. Everton were meant to push for a top-six finish, but they’re currently seven points adrift. As a result, the board are growing impatient and have issued an ultimatum to Silva.

David Moyes, Erik ten Haag and Laurent Blanc have been suggested as potential replacements, but time will tell if the axe falls on Silva.
