Explained: How Callum Connolly has fared on loan since leaving Everton

|

Callum Connolly was an unused substitute for Lincoln City in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Peterborough, but the 22-year-old had been a regular for the Imps before. Connolly’s temporary switch to Lincoln came as a result of a lack of playing time at Everton, but how has the young midfielder fared on loan?

He’s made seven League One appearances for City this season, making one assist, but has only racked up 33 minutes of football in October.

As per WhoScored, Connolly has averaged 29 passes-per-game with 81.9% accuracy, created four chances, won six aerial duels (43%), had a 50% dribble success rate, registered only one shot on target, blocked six shots/passes, made 11 clearances, committed nine fouls and averaged a tackle (8) or interception (4) every 43 minutes.

Connolly has been short of playing time at Everton, spending the majority of his time on Merseyside with the u23s. Transfermarkt say the teenager has made 53 appearances for the reserves, scoring and creating seven goals.

He’s unlikely to get a look-in at senior level due to competition from Andre Gomes, Jean-Phillipe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies, so impressing on loan is his best hope of putting himself in the shop window.
