Yannick Bolasie looks set to stay at Everton after Sporting CP made a U-turn on their decision to turn his loan move permanent, but their decision means Everton could miss out on a lot of money.

The 30-year-old joined Sporting on a season-long loan in September and had a £3.8m buying option included in the deal. Bolasie earns £75k-per-week/£3.9m at Everton and has one year remaining on his contract.

He’s been out of favour at Goodison Park for the last two seasons and resorted to loan moves at Aston Villa (August 25, 2018 – January 21, 2019), RSC Anderlecht (January 31, 2019 – June 30, 2019) and Sporting (September 2, 2019 – present) to get competitive football.

Everton have been unable to find a suitor willing to sign Bolasie permanently for two years, so there’s a possibility he’ll have to see out his contract on Merseyside. If that happens, the club will miss out on £7.7m.

The Toffees paid £25m for the DR Congo international in 2016 and he’s gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring just two goals. Bolasie’s last appearance for Everton came in their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United (May 13, 2018), so it’s unlikely he’ll ever play for the club again.
