Plenty of eyes would have been trained on Jordan Pickford yesterday afternoon and it seems safe to say that he did a good job in responding to it all.
The former Sunderland keeper has come in for some fierce criticism this season from opposing fans, pundits and our own supporters.
Parts of it have been justified, too, and perhaps there were some that were worried that we might have seen the best of him.
He has got years left in him, though, and yesterday afternoon reminded us that he is more than good enough to be a top keeper for plenty of seasons to come.
He was assured and much calmer than he has been of late, clearly looking to make a big statement.
He impressed our fans on Twitter, too, with plenty taking to the social media site to discuss his display…
All you super bloos still want Pickford dropped? #efc

The spine was magnificent today. Pickford, Keane, Gana and Calvert-Lewin. But out the four Dominic was magnificent. He’s got everything to be a top class striker. Link play, touch, pace, power. #MagicSon #EFC

They’ve been knocked, but thought Pickford and Mina were faultless today #EFC

Well no one can accuse Marco Silva of being a purist, trying to play out through the thirds at all costs. Pickford’s passing range is probably between 30 and 70 yards in this game. Really effective high press by Chelsea, to be fair #EFC

Brilliant second half. Excellent from Richarlison and Pickford. Another quality game from Calvert-Lewin. #efc 👏🏻

Different keeper this week Pickford. Shows how important it is to have the right attitude……much better #efc

Promising stuff, then, and that will have gone some way to silence those critics…
