Everton’s talks with Marcelo Bielsa COLLAPSE – Miguel Delaney

|

Everton held talks with Marcelo Bielsa over the last week to become the first-team manager. However, their talks have reportedly collapsed as there is a ‘considerable gap between positions’, according to recent reports

The toffees made the decision to part ways with former Manager Frank Lampard on Monday night after he left his side 19th in the Premier League after 20 game weeks.

Marcelo Bielsa has been a front-runner for the Everton job since Lampard was sacked, even though there has been multiple candidates in the short space of time.

However, their talks with the Argentine could have come to a frosty end.

According to Miguel Delaney writing for The Telegraph, Everton’s talks with Marcelo Bielsa have held an impasse after there was a considerable gap between the positions of the two. Bielsa has asked for a package of over £10m for himself and his staff. The length of the deal is also a problem for Everton.

Bielsa spent almost 4 years at Leeds United, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in his second season, before being sacked midway through last season amid the threat of relegation to the Championship.

Before moving to England with Leeds United, he earned himself a reputation as being a very technical coach, with his spells at Espanyol, Chile and Athletic Club being some of his standout periods.
