Everton’s new man’s stats have made some fans ‘Really excited to see what he does’

Everton completed a Deadline Day deal to sign Alex Iwobi from Arsenal, in a transfer that could reach a reported £34million, and Blues fans have been growing ever more excited by the Nigeria international being a Toffee when looking at his stats from the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Across his 35 top-flight outings last term, the 23-year-old created more big chances (10) than Richarlison (2), Mesut Ozil (3) and Bernard (4) combined, while Gylfi Sigurdsson penned 11 from 38 appearances.

Our newest attacking threat also recorded more passes per match (27.17) than all of the aforementioned players bar Ozil (46.58), more assists (6) than all bar Sigurdsson (6), and missed fewer big chances (3) than all bar his former German colleague (1).

Opta stats shared on Twitter also showed that Iwobi held a stronger passes into the penalty area per ninety-minute rate than the likes of Eden Hazard, Felipe Anderson, and Ozil last season with 2.59 – only falling behind David Silva (2.69), Josip Illic (2.73), Alejandro Gomez (2.73), Neymar (3.61) and Lionel Messi (4.49).

The 36-cap Super Eagles ace ranked fourth for progressive passes per 90 and progressive runs per 90, as well, with strong numbers in both accounts – only ranking behind Paul Pogba, Hazard and Silva.
