Everton have long been linked with interest in the talents of Malcom, and the Brazilian winger’s uncertain future with FC Barcelona has seen the Blues again connected with the former FC Girondins Bordeaux star.
However, doubt has been raised over the rumours of a €35million (£31.4m) offer Everton were thought to be readying in a bid to tempt the 22-year-old away from La Liga, and join Marco Silva’s Merseyside mission a year after passing up on a potential role at Goodison Park in favour of the Camp Nou.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands have no plans in place to target the Brazilian who made 15 appearances in the Spanish top-flight last season, as they are currently pursuing other targets.
This is not to say the pair have necessarily ruled out approaching Barcelona to see if Malcom is on offer later on in the window, but that they are not actively seeking another deal with the Catalan side having taken Andre Gomes off their hands already this summer.
If Silva decides he would like Malcom to be a part of his Toffees squad next term, time is starting to run out, as we are now in the final month of the window, with the market closing on August 8 at 17:00.
Brands is also busy still searching for potential suitors willing to take the likes of Kevin Mirallas off the club’s books, as he strives to cut the deadwood from the wage bill.
There had been reports of Standard Liege making moves to bring former Belgium international winger Mirallas back to his first club, but the Echo understand the Jupiler Pro League side have not yet contacted Everton, despite the claims of a deal being agreed.
