With Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina making the trip to Goodison Park to start life at Everton this summer, Andre Gomes was signing on the dotted line alongside the Colombian international earlier this evening.

Again, like Mina, Barcelona had already announced the deal had gone through ahead of the closure of the transfer deadline window in England and confirmed that we had agreed to pay a ยฃ2million loan fee for the 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder who helped his country to lift the European Cup back in 2016. We are also covering his wages 100% apparently.

Having made the switch to the Nou Camp for a tasty ยฃ29million fee back in the summer of 2016 as he left Valencia, game time has been hardish to come by given the players they boast so he’ll be looking for a good run of games to get himself back on track – that said he has still made 78 league appearances across the last two seasons.

Speaking to the Official Site after his deal was officially announced our end, Gomes explained that Silva had been a big part of his decision once they spoke and the multi-title winner is ours, at least for 2018/19.

“Iโ€™m delighted to sign for this fantastic club – itโ€™s a good day for me. Everton always was a big option for me, especially after speaking with the coach, Marco Silva. Every discussion weโ€™ve had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game. Everybody in Portugal knows how Marco Silva works and his abilities as a coach. For me, it was really good to speak to him because I know how good he is and I feel motivated to work with him and to play for Everton, a great club.”

It’s certainly turned into a good transfer day for Everton and we’ve clearly won the prize for the best business done on deadline day and we potentially aren’t finished with speculation still suggesting a loan deal for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma remains in progress.
