Ever since Romelu Lukaku departed the club to join Manchester United at the beginning of last season, we have been devoid of a continuous goalscorer. Cenk Tosun arrived in January in the hope that he could try and emulate the success that the Belgian striker achieved at Goodison Park, and the Turkish forward has made a steady start to life in England.

Naturally, having joined the club from Besiktas, it was going to take time for Tosun to acclimatise to life in a new country and a new division. To his credit, the 27-year-old made a commendable start to life at the club, having scored five goals in 14 appearances. And, while he has yet to open his account this season, Marco Silva’s influence is apparent, and he has the potential to become a crucial component of the team this campaign.

In the 14 Premier League appearances that Tosun amassed last season, he had failed to register one assist. In his opening three games of the new season, the Turkish striker has already registered two assists – which is reflective of the creative freedom that is awarded to players by the management of Marco Silva.

The fact that Silva’s influence is apparent among the squad after just three games is reflective of how hard the team worked during pre-season, and as the players continue to families themselves with the gaffer’s philosophy, then we’re likely to see more success for our creative stars.

We’re currently averaging two goals per game, and the difference in style from Sam Allardyce’s reign as manager is astonishing. Under Marco Silva, invention, industry and creativity are harnessed, the players have the freedom to express themselves, and that’s apparent from watching games.

Let’s hope that Silva’s input continues to improve players, and our side’s creativity, then it won’t be long until Tosun opens his account for this season.
