Everton Youngster Hits Brace As Unbeaten Run In 2018/19 Continues With EFL Cup Progression

|

Earlier this evening Everton took to the Goodison Park pitch to open our 2018/19 EFL Cup campaign.

Entering at the second round stage along with most fellow Premier League sides, our opponents were Rotherham United and it was expected that manager Marco Silva would take the opportunity to rotate the pack and get some competitive minutes into others and a number of youngsters.

He took full advantage of that opportunity and we also saw some summer signings in the starting XI.

It was a strong performance from Everton, who dominated all the key statistics in the match, but the only one that mattered was a 3-1 victory to put us into the hat for the third round draw.

Goals on the day came from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin added a second-half brace to tie up the victory. Will Vaulks did make it a 2-1 game inside of the final ten minutes, but with the speed of DCL’s second effort coming a minute later they didn’t set up a nervy ending to the tie.

A good run out for other players and a good victory, so plenty of positives to take from an unbeaten start to the year.
