The Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has stated that he believes Everton will have a new ground by 2019.

He holds that view despite news on Monday that Everton’s proposed move to Walton Hall had been scrapped.

The Walton Hall project looked ideal, it offered a very good location and the regeneration plans would have benefited the entire city.

But, whilst Liverpool would clearly have enjoyed 1,000 new homes and 30,000 square metres of leisure, retail and restaurant space, Green space campaigners objected and have duly won the battle.

And after Anderson declared that Walton Hall Park will remain a park and will be designated as such, he later insisted that this did not end Everton’s hopes of a new stadium.

“I`m confident the new stadium will be up and running in three years time. Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson told BBC Radio Merseyside.

He continued: “I think there is a real acceptance by them and I`m pretty confident that within three years there will be a new stadium for Everton football club in Liverpool.”

With new major investor Farhad Moshiri and with his personal wealth and council backing, hopefully a new site and new plans can become a reality soon.

Everton are reportedly considering two new locations said to be at Stonebridge Cross in Croxteth and another site in the north docks area of Liverpool.
