According to Forza Roma, Everton are interested in signing Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi with the young player impressing on loan at Empoli in Serie A – though the club faces competition from two of Europe’s biggest teams.

The Blues are hopefully going to be active this summer window as, whenever it opens, it will be the first market in an off-period with Carlo Ancelotti in charge of the club and behind the potential deals.

Indeed, there seems a good chance that the Italian is going to be determined to try and sign some top players to help the Blues climb up the league so we can expect plenty of links involving the Toffees to emerge in the coming weeks – particularly with no on-field action to speak of.

And, that in mind, Frattesi is the latest to be linked, though both AS Roma and Juventus have also apparently been impressed with what they have seen from him while with Empoli this year.

Interestingly, despite being a young player, he’s been on the books at both clubs during his development and it would be intriguing to see if he’d fancy going back to one of them to try and make things work again.

Or, indeed, he could fancy a completely new challenge under Carlo Ancelotti in a new country and, if Everton make an offer, he might be tempted to see what happens.
