Everton to reportedly meet asking price for ‘World class’ ace, loads of fans react: ‘Fantastic’

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha expects to join Everton this summer as the Blues are readying an improved offer, according to the Independent.

The 26-year-old had hoped to join Arsenal after making his desires to leave Selhurst Park evident to the Eagles board, but his wage demands and Palace refusing to accept payment over a serious of instalments put off the Gunners.

Everton chiefs, however, are sensing the chance to break into the Premier League’s top six this season, having lured Juventus’ rising star Moise Kean to Merseyside, as well as completing permanent deals for FC Barcelona’s Andre Gomes and 1.FSV Mainz 05’s Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Zaha is said to be attracted by the prospect of playing alongside someone of the calibre of Kean and working on breaking into the European places, and is hopeful a deal can be made before the market slams shut at 17:00 on Thursday.

We have already seen one offer of £55million rejected by Palace, and took the surprising decision to publically denounce speculation of an improved bid for Zaha that included Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy.

The statement claimed we had agreed with Palace to end our interest at that moment, although the Independent understand the Selhurst Park hierarchy will now accept a bid of £65million, so long as the entire fee is paid upfront.

Palace had been asking for £80million for Zaha as the forward is contracted to the South London side until the summer of 2023, but the Ivory Coast international has stressed his desires to leave in order to further his career.

Sources have now allegedly claimed Everton are planning to work on a deal with Palace ahead of Deadline Day, as our board are willing to offer the Eagles’ their revised asking price, but need to work on the structure of the proposal.

This could mean Director of Football Marcel Brands offering Roy Hodgson’s side some of our fringe players to somewhat reduce the financial outlay of signing Zaha, with Palace credited with renewed interest in £10million-valued McCarthy after seeing an £8million bid rejected.

Here’s how these Everton fans reacted to the Independent’s suggestion of a revised approach to sign Zaha from Crystal Palace…
