Everton have been drawn against fellow Premier League outfit, Manchester United at Old Trafford in their FA Cup 3rd round tie and will be hoping to break their 34-year curse by winning the fixture.
The blues have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup this season after losing 4-1 to Bournemouth a few weeks ago, but their other chance at silverware in the FA Cup seems to have gotten off to a difficult start.
Everton have already faced Manchester United once this season but came out second best, losing 2-1 at Goodison Park after an early Alex Iwobi goal.
The last time Everton tasted victory after a trip to Old Trafford was in 2013 when Bryan Oviedo scored an 86th-minute winner for Roberto Martinez’s side in their race for Champions League football.
Despite not winning at Old Trafford for 9 years, this is not the worst stat surfacing after the announcement of this fixture.
The toffees have now gone 34 years without beating top-flight opposition in the FA Cup 3rd round. The last time was a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United in 1988 in a 3rd replay after the previous two games ended in a draw. They have since played top-flight opposition in 7 seasons, losing all 7 [via efcstatto – twitter].
