As per the club’s official site, Everton have agreed a first professional contract with young striker Anthony Gordon.
The Blues have got a fine youth system in place and once again they are excelling this year.
They beat Liverpool in the mini-derby earlier this week and Gordon has been a crucial part in their surge to the top of the Premier League 2 standings.
An England youth international, Gordon’s deal now runs until the summer of 2023 and though he might not play much for the senior side in that period, now is his chance to really kick on.
He knows that the club feel he could be good enough and he now has four years to really show that, so it’s a crucial period of time for him.
With the willingness of the club to blood young players if they are good enough, though, who is to say he can’t become a regular in the coming years.
