According to The Sun on Sunday, Everton are considering terminating Sandro Ramirez’s contract as they want him gone before the summer transfer window shuts. The 25-year-old has been on the periphery at Goodison Park for two years, but we’ve been unable to locate a suitor willing to sign him permanently.

The Sun on Sunday say we won’t loan Sandro out in the final year of his contract, so his deal might be mutually cancelled instead. We want a resolution before the window closes on October 5. It would benefit all parties for the Spaniard to leave, but surely we could find a club that would take him on a free transfer?

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Why is Sandro still here?

It beggars belief. He’s made only 16 appearances in all competitions since joining us from Malaga in 2017, scoring just one goal with two assists. Sandro was surplus to requirements just a year after signing and was loaned out to Sevilla (January 30, 2018 – June 30, 2018), Real Sociedad (August 30, 2018 – June 30, 2019) and Real Valladolid (July 2, 2019 – July 20, 2020).

He didn’t do enough to earn a permanent move back to Spain, however. And at Everton this season, Sandro is currently behind Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the pecking order, so it’s clear his future at Goodison is up.

How much will it cost to release him?

Sandro earns in excess of £5.2m-a-year/£100k-per-week at Everton and his four-year deal is up in June 2021, so it could cost us around £4.3m to cancel his contract. A player will often agree a lower price than the value of their contract too, so we may be able to release Sandro for cheaper. Time will tell.

SD Eibar, SD Huesca, Elche CF, Real Valladolid, SC Braga and Sporting CP have shown interest in the 25-year-old this summer, so I’m still holding out hope that a club will make a move before October. We’ll be saving money if we sell Sandro for nothing, so any deal is better than having to keep him until 2021 or paying to release him early.
