Everton are ‘seriously considering’ making a move for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi during the January transfer window in their continued search for attacking reinforcements, according to recent reports

Elye Wahi came through the youth academy at his current club Montpellier and made his competitive debut for the French side in December 2020.

In his first season in Ligue 1, he scored 3 goals and grabbed 1 assist in 18 appearances, strong numbers considering he was only 18 years of age.

He well and truly broke onto the scene last season, however, making 33 appearances in the league and scoring a very impressive 10 goals, helping his side to avoid relegation with a 13th place finish.

This season he looks set to break his goal tally from last season, however, having already scored 7 goals in just 15 Ligue 1 appearances.

According to MediaFoot, Everton are ‘strongly considering’ making a move for the 20-year-old Frenchman during the January transfer window in their hunt for a goalscorer. However, Montpellier reportedly value Wahi at around £22 million [via Liverpool Echo].

The toffees did recall Ellis Simms from his loan deal at Sunderland last week, but it is strongly believed that Frank Lampard’s side will need even more firepower if they are to have any hope of remaining in the Premier League.
