Online reports linking Everton and manager Marco Silva with Croatian international defender Domagoj Vida are hardly new. Vital Everton covered the speculation the other week when the reports first surfaced.

Everton Fans muted reaction to defender link

Initial reactions from fans were largely more tongue in cheek, focusing on his hairstyle and making references to Games Workshop, but as the World Cup ticks by and people get a bit more of a chance to see him on the pitch interest does seem to have grown in the 29-year-old.

Turkish Football broke the original story and on Sunday they had a follow up report which claimed we had now lodged a firm 13.2million Euro offer for the Besiktas centre-half.

It’s claimed however that in response to his World Cup performances so far for Croatia, they have now increased their valuation to a reported 28million Euros and are probably hoping to start a mini bidding war with West Ham and Fulham also now being linked with him.

It’s simply presumed that with the new valuation on his head, our opening offer has been rejected.

Whilst the veracity of the claims can be questioned, it’s silly season after all and nothing is guaranteed until somebody pulls the shirt on for promotional purposes, fans are warming to the idea of seeing him line up in the backline next season.
