Jordan Pickford has come out and said that he’d not make the mistake Alisson did for Liverpool last weekend against Leicester City.

The Reds signed the stopper from Roma for a massive fee but he was caught out against the Foxes for dithering on the ball.

For a player that’s been signed to be good with his feet, he’s left a lot to be desired and our number 1 has said that he’ll never let himself get into such a situation.

As quoted by teamtalk, he said:

“I try not to (do tricks) because I don’t want to be caught with it. It’s a risk.

“If it comes off it looks good and if it doesn’t… It’s a style of play and I think that’s the way Liverpool want to play as well. You’ve got to give that one where mistakes will happen and it’s about not making the next one.”

Certainly, he’s not having a massive dig but he is at least showing that he thinks that he is just as good as anyone else in the league.

For sure, I think he’s one of the top stoppers in the division and now we’ll just have to hope these words don’t come back to bite him.

I get the feeling they won’t, though, he knows the league too well.
