Before the start of play yesterday, we had an abundance of centre-backs. Maybe too many.

But before the final whistle, we had found ourselves in an injury crisis. Ben Godfrey suffered a small fracture in his fibula and is expected to be out for a few months and Yerry Mina. Well, Yerry Mina is made of glass and after it looked like he twisted his ankle, only he knows how long he will be out for.

This now leaves Everton with just three first-team centre-backs. Mason Holgate, who replaced the injured Ben Godfrey, and didn’t put a foot wrong. Michael Keane and summer signing James Tarkowski.

Now, Everton are in the market again for another defender, and it is believed that they have found their man and are closing in on a deal for Wolves captain Conor Coady.

Coady who has 3 years left on his current contract, was an unused sub yesterday and is unsettled at Molineux after Bruno Lage has changed to a back four, and according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Everton are closing in on a potential loan deal, with an option to make it permanent.

Everton are moving things fast to get Conor Coady into training this week in time for the game on Saturday at Aston Villa, and if they get their man, this will be their third defensive signing this summer, along with the imminent signings of Onana and Gueye expected to be made this week.

Would you be happy with Conor Coady?

Yes

Yes

No

No

If these deals get sorted and a striker is brought in to help replace the currently injured Calvert-Lewin, considering our financial situation, I would say this is a good transfer window.

Do you agree?
