Everton sack manager Frank Lampard

|

Everton this afternoon have sacked manager Frank Lampard less than a year after his arrival becoming the seventh Everton manager to lose his job in 7 years.

With 1 win in 14 games, (23.68 win %) the news comes as no surprise and with the club sitting at 19th in the league, one place above bottom on goal difference something needed to change and it has finally happened today according to SkySports, but nothing has come out of Everton officially.

Managers always bite the bullet, and Lampard was unfortunately not good enough but these players also need to stand up and start taking accountability for what they do on the pitch.

After losing Richarlison in the summer, Everton needed to replace him but never did that and went into the season with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Saloman Rondon as the two clubs’ strikers. Calvert-Lewin picked up a freak injury on the eve of the first game of the season and it took until the fifth game that a striker was brought in.

Neal Maupay came in and he just is not good enough and questions have been asked if he was even Frank Lampard’s choice, and that has been evident in the last few games when Lampard has opted for other players from the bench.

Now that Lampard has gone, we need to now keep the pressure on the board as they are not competent enough to run a football club. Everton’s last win was in October and since then we have only picked up 2 points from a possible 24.

For me, it is a shame that things did not work out for Lampard.  He showed passion and I genuinely felt that he cared about the club and wanted to get us out of this mess. Wish him the best in whatever is next for him.

What are your thoughts?

Who would you like to see come in as Lampard’s replacement?
