Everton ‘put €22m on table’, Toffees ‘will take’ 20 y/o, ‘future heading for Premier League’

According to Sport, Carlo Ancelotti ‘will take (Jean-Clair) Todibo to Everton’ this summer and the Toffees ‘would put on the table some 22 million euros’ to procure his signature.

Everton are on the hunt for a centre-back to accompany Yerry Mina, Michael Kean and Mason Holgate next season, but they could have competition from Schalke 04, AS Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Todibo joined Barcelona from Toulouse in January 2019 and has gone on to make only five appearances in all competitions. Barca loaned out the 20-year-old to Schalke just one year after he arrived at the Camp Nou and may consider selling him in the coming months.

Everton loaned out Matthew Pennington last summer while releasing Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams, but they never managed to replace any one of the trio. Lewis Gibson made the step-up to the first-team, but he will be loaned out next season, so another centre-back is needed.

Ancelotti has been linked with Gabriel Magalhaes, Marash Kumbulla and Christian Luyindama among others, but Todibo would fit the criteria too. Under Marcel Brands, Everton are targeting young talent and have a good working relationship with Barcelona.

Time will tell if they beat out the competition, however.
