Everton will not be taking up the option to buy on-loan ace Djibril Sidibe, but would be open to another temporary spell, according to reputable journalist Paul Brown.
The writer, who features on the Daily Star, Mirror and Express, delivered the fresh update to fans on Twitter yesterday afternoon.
He said:
#EFC not picking up option to buy #Sidibe (as suggested by Lequipe) makes a lot of sense. Not convinced he’s shown enough for that kind of commitment, and club will use what transfer budget it has to prioritise other areas (CB, CM). Another loan much more likely

The 27-year-old has become a regular under Carlo Ancelotti this campaign, featuring in a total of 24 matches in all competitions where he has also provided five assists, via Transfermarkt.
Sidibe didn’t start any of the Toffees’ first eight Premier League games, so clearly he’s been making more of an impact under the Italian than when Marco Silva was still in charge.
It’s claimed that the club will use what transfer budget they have this summer to bolster other areas of need, such as in central defence and central midfield.
What should Everton do with Djibril Sidibe?
Send him back
Loan him again
Buy him outright
Everton, of course, will see the return of Jonjoe Kenny from Schalke this summer, so they won’t be completely void of a right-back option.
Clearly, the hierarchy at Goodison Park like Sidibe enough as they’d be open to a loan extension into next season.
This is quite a smart ploy as it means they are indeed able to use funds elsewhere and at the same time, they’ll get another look at the Monaco man.
What do you think? Would you be happy to see Sidibe stick around?
