A recent transfer report has caused a divide amongst the Everton faithful this week.

According to Calciomercato, the Toffees are one of several sides chasing Lyon winger Memphis Depay as he approaches the final year of his contract at the Ligue 1 outfit.

It’s claimed that the two parties are some way off agreeing on fresh terms, so the Dutch international is open to the idea of moving elsewhere in the summer.

He could cost Marcel Brands and co around €30m (£26.7m).

Would you like to see Memphis Depay at Goodison Park?

Yes please!

No thanks!

But for some at Goodison Park, he’s not a signing they’d like to see with his injury troubles being regularly referenced. The 26-year-old is currently recovering from a serious ACL injury that derailed what was becoming a very impressive campaign.

Depay provided 14 goals and two assists in 18 appearances, via Transfermarkt, before suffering the problem against Stade Rennes in December.

And that’s why several others in Merseyside can see the positives of signing the former Manchester United man.

At 26, Depay still has plenty to offer and I do think he’d be a superb addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s revolution at Everton as he’s able to play anywhere along the front three and that could open up plenty of options for Richarlison, who is just as versatile.

Here’s what our fanbase is saying about the mooted move…
