Everton supporters have been left drooling over central defender Mason Holgate after the club posted his statistics from Wednesday’s victory.
The Toffees made it two games unbeaten with a 1-0 victory at Norwich City. Defensive partner Michael Keane nabbed the only goal of the game when he headed home from a corner in the second half.
Should Holgate be named captain next season?
Absolutely!
Not yet!
But it was the 23-year-old who was arguably the best player on the pitch and his numbers reinforce that substantially.
Holgate managed five clearances, three interceptions, a 75% tackle success rate as well as a 92% pass accuracy.

The young Englishman has certainly improved tenfold under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti and is surely one of the first names on the teamsheet each week now.
It’s been quite the turnaround for a player that was sent out on loan to the Championship last season.
Plenty of the Goodison Park faithful have been talking him up on social media this week. Some believe he could one day be the captain of the Merseyside outfit whilst others have labelled him the ‘Player of the Season’.
There were even shouts suggesting that the £12.15m-rated star better than former Toffee-turned City star John Stones.
Here’s how fans have reacted…
He’s becoming a fantastic player. #HardWork #MasonHolgate #COYB https://t.co/Oaw3lpEjq5

Never forget a friend of my Dads , who was a shareholder at Barnsley saying Mason was better than Stones. Turning out to be true #efc #Holgate

Tremendous growth from Mason this season. Echo the sentiment of future captain. Would love to see us snag an experienced CB to work with him on his leadership qualities to completely round him out. Sky is deffo the limit for him
