Everton managed to get back on track with three points on Monday evening thanks to a header from Richarlison as they downed Europe-chasing Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The 23-year-old reacted to the performance on Instagram by posting a clip of his goal as well as congratulating some of his teammates, including young Jarrad Branthwaite who made his full senior debut.

But more interestingly, there was a response from his Brazilian counterpart Gabriel Magalhaes, who has been mooted with a switch to Goodison Park for several months now.

Here’s what he said…

Gabriel reacts to Richarlison post

According to the Guardian back in April, the Toffees were expecting the Lille centre-back to be Carlo Ancelotti’s first summer signing for a fee thought to be in the region of £30m.

He’s also attracted interest from the Italian’s former club Napoli as well as Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Both Gabriel and Richarlison were part of the same Brazil U20 set-up, which is why they know each other so well.

Should Everton sign Gabriel?

Yes please!

Yes please!

No thanks!

Maybe that’s a relationship that could sway the defender’s opinion when considering his next move, and what a signing it could be for the Merseysiders.

Per WhoScored, the 22-year-old has been an absolute rock in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, averaging 3.2 aerial duels won, 3.3 clearances, 1.8 tackles and 0.7 shots per game.

With Ancelotti witnessing the breakthrough of Mason Holgate and now Jarrad Branthwaite, the 6 foot 3 colossus could be superb addition going into next season.
