Everton were finally back in Premier League action on Sunday evening, but their return got off to a rather drab start as they battled out a stalemate with their arch-rivals in the Merseyside derby.
The Toffees arguably had the best chance in the match when Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s deft flick was parried by Alisson in the final 15 minutes, and Tom Davies’ follow-up cannoned off the post.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side go 12th in the division whilst Liverpool edge another point closer to clinching that elusive PL title.

Despite fans not being in attendance at Goodison Park, plenty of them watched the match from their homes and the display from Alex Iwobi failed to inspire many.
In fact, the 24-year-old was blasted by some supporters for being “useless” and “absolute garbage.”
As per SofaScore, Iwobi managed just 25 touches all game as well as a poor 73% passing accuracy from only 15 passes, which is why some labelled him a “passenger” as evidently, he was rather anonymous throughout.
The Nigerian winger cost Everton £34m in the summer and his value has already decreased to £22.95m, via Transfermarkt.
