Everton have entered the race to sign RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, according to reports from Italy.

As per Tuttojuve, the Toffees are one of several teams chasing the impressive 19-year-old with the likes of Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Milan and Valencia amongst others in the hunt.

It’s claimed that he would cost Marcel Brands and co around €30m (£27m).

The Hungarian star has also been courted by Premier League rivals Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in recent months, and Szoboszlai has even revealed that an offer from the Anfield giants would be too good to refuse in an interview with Power Sportz.

Should Brands splash the cash on Szoboszlai?

Salzburg are known for their conveyor belt of talents having brought Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino and of course, the imperious Erling Haaland to stardom in recent seasons.

It’s thought that the young teenage sensation is the next player to be tipped for big things – that’s certainly the view of his national team boss, Marco Rossi.

He once said:

“He has the stigmata of the champion, that’s for sure. First of all, he has a great personality despite his very young age. Then he has an excellent technique and a great game vision to which he combines remarkable physical means. Despite being 1.85m tall he is equipped with a very good speed. He is a complete player. I believe that in a couple of years, especially if his professional career is well thought out, he can become one of the best midfielders in Europe.”

That’s one hell of a glowing endorsement and it’s clear to see he has humongous potential having played a pivotal role this campaign. Szoboszlai has provided seven goals and six assists from 30 appearances in all competitions, via FBref, meaning he averages 0.62 goal contributions per game.

Who did Everton sell Nikola Vlasic to in July 2019?

His exposure to regular game time at an elite level – he has featured in both the Europa League and Champions League as well as on the international stage already – makes him well-equipped to step up to a division like the Premier League.

He could well become Ancelotti’s project in the heart of his engine room. It would certainly be an interesting move.
