Everton made it three games unbeaten on Wednesday evening, but it appears that wasn’t enough for some as many supporters were left fuming by the performance from midfielder Andre Gomes.

The Toffees defeated then-third-placed Leicester City 2-1 at Goodison Park to bolster their chances of playing in Europe next season, and they can thank their fast start as Carlo Ancelotti’s side were very much under the cosh late on.

Richarlison struck from close range from a well-driven Anthony Gordon cross before Gylfi Sigurdsson fired home from the spot, following a lengthy VAR review, just six minutes later.

Should Andre Gomes be dropped next game?

Brendan Rodgers rang the changes at half-time and it paid off with substitute Kelechi Iheanacho scoring shortly after the break but the Foxes couldn’t find that elusive equaliser.

Gomes had quite the poor game, picking up a squad-low 6.2 rating by SofaScore. He won just 33% of his duels, lost possession ten times and committed four fouls. He was also dribbled past a whopping eight times.

It’s led to some fans blasting him for being a “liability” whilst his lack of pace was a major concern for some, and they could be onto something given those numbers above.

Here’s how supporters reacted to the £22m-rated star’s display on social media…
