Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi is set to sign a new long-term contract with the club after some fantastic recent form, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
Iwobi had a really interesting start to his time on Merseyside. Although he did score in one of his first games in a blue shirt, a header in a 3-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park, it really hasn’t been smooth sailing since then.
In his first 2 seasons, he only managed 2 goals and 2 assists across 55 matches, so it came as no surprise that he was heavily linked with a move away from the club after the 2020/21 season.
However, since the arrival of Frank Lampard as manager and his conversion of position to a central midfielder, it seems he has become a different player.
This season alone, Iwobi has more goal contributions than he had in his last 3 seasons combined and he has only played 15 games.
Thanks to this extraordinary form of late, it seems the club have finally agreed on a new contract with the Nigerian, with his current deal due to expire at the end of next season.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Alex Iwobi will soon sign a new deal at Everton after recent negotiations have advanced well. The deal will be long-term and is in the final stages.
