Everton midfielder doubtful ahead of Man City clash, has ‘50%’ chance of being fit

Morgan Schneiderlin is an injury doubt ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with Manchester City. Premier Injuries say the 30-year-old has a ‘50%’ chance of returning in time to face the defending champions at the Etihad Stadium.

How will Everton fare against Manchester City?

Lose

Schneiderlin has made 11 Premier League appearances this season, the last of which came in Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea (December 7). The French international may have missed the Blues’ last four league games, but his absence hasn’t hurt the side.

Everton drew 1-1 with Manchester United (December 15), and 0-0 with Arsenal (December 21) before beating Burnley 1-0 (December 26) and Newcastle United 2-1 (December 28). They’re 10th in the league ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with City and could move another place up the table if results go their way.

Carlo Ancelotti will have Tom Davies, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fabian Delph to choose from against the Sky Blues. Mason Holgate is a makeshift option too. And while Schneiderlin could return, the 30-year-old is unlikely to start. He’ll be short of match fitness due to the three-week layout and may fill a spot on the bench instead.
