Everton have lodged a club record £11million pound bid for FC Porto’s midfielder ‘Lucho’. The skillful Argentinian has over 30 caps for country and can play wide right or down the centre.
Now some may call me a pessimist but when a club has already said they want 15 million for a player, it is ‘safe’ to bid much lower than this, knowing full well you won’t have to pay up but can say you tried.
Similar situation to our ‘bids’ for Owen and Shearer offering much less than other clubs, but getting some good PR.
Should this deal somehow come off and the player choose Everton over Real Madrid, Valencia, Juventus and Lyon it would be a remarkable signing, and put hope back into Blues minds.
Everton have also won the race for Leighton Baines and the player will be unveiled tomorrow afternoon.
