Everton midfielder, Lewis Warrington today scored an absolute rocket on loan at Fleetwood Town in their 3-1 win against National League south side, Oxford City in the FA Cup 1st round proper.

Warrington is having a decent season on loan on the west coast, earning himself a starting spot in Scotland legend, Scott Brown’s side after performing well since joining the club.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan in League 2 with fellow Merseysiders, Tranmere Rovers, making 17 appearances in all competitions, bagging a goal against Harrogate Town in the process.

His good performances in League 2 lead to Frank Lampard taking him on Everton’s pre-season tour of the US, appearing in both games the toffees would play against Arsenal and Minnesota United.

Lampard would also give Warrington his first-team debut at Everton, coming on as a second-half substitute in their 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.

Just days after making his Everton debut against Fleetwood, he would join the League 1 outfit on a season-long loan.

Warrington would break straight into his new side’s starting squad, making his debut in a 1-1 draw with Wycombe Wanderers.

Since then, he has started all but 1 game for ‘The Cob Army’, becoming one of the first names on Brown’s team sheet, so there was no surprise in seeing him in the 11 for their FA Cup 1st round tie against Oxford City.

He would open the scoring inside 15 minutes with a delicious curling effort past the Oxford keeper.

Although City would try for a late comeback, a Paddy Lane double would calm any nerves over a potential upset.
