As quoted by the Bolton News via the Liverpool Echo, Bolton manager Phil Parkinson has heaped praise on Everton loanee Joe Williams for his display in their 2-2 draw with Preston.
The midfielder was on loan at Barnsley last season and did well and is now back in the Championship with the Trotters.
It was an entertaining game, too, as they came back from 2-0 down to draw whilst Williams also got involved in a bit of a dust-up at the end of the game.
His good side was clear for all to see, though, and Parkinson certainly laid it on thick when reflecting on the performance:
“What a debut. I thought he was immense.
“He’s a great all-round midfield player. We’ve played against Preston before and Ben Pearson has dictated the game but we weren’t prepared to let him this time. I don’t think he did.”
Clearly, Williams is one for the future but the way he is going he could make it big sooner rather than later.
It was a good performance on his debut and I expect more of that from him this season.
He now needs to show he can make the step up to the Premier League, though, and to do that he might have to help Bolton do something very special indeed.
