Everton-Linked Forward Responds to Transfer Rumours

|

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has recently seen himself linked with a move away from the London Stadium, with Everton reportedly interested in securing his signature.

However, the Jamaica international has revealed that he remains committed to the Hammers.

The 32-year-old has hit double figures in terms of goals in each of the last 3 seasons for West Ham, but has seen his playing time limited so far this season following the arrival of Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca last summer.

Indeed, Antonio has only started 8 out of the 18 fixtures West Ham have played so far this Premier League season, and reports suggested that Everton were alerted to the potential availability of the forward, should David Moyes’ side purchase a replacement.

With uncertainly surrounding his future, the former Forest forward was asked to provide clarity on his situation, and while his commitment to West Ham is clear, he does not rule out a move away from the east London club.

Antonio said, “There are always rumours in football. People have seen I have not been playing much recently and they’ve seen that we’ve been struggling.

“It’s one of those things where all I do is pay attention to myself and make sure I can play whenever I get the opportunity.

He continued, “My agent deals with all that and if something happens, something happens.

Right now, I’m at West Ham and I have to pay attention to that. If something changes, it changes.

“You have to deal with whatever comes your way and that’s how I stand with it. I want to play football, and that’s all I care about.”

Everton and West Ham currently occupy the bottom 3 with the Blues set to visit the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a fixture of great significance for both Frank Lampard and former Everton boss David Moyes, who has also seen his name linked with a return to Goodison Park.
