Everton interested in ‘top youngster’ thriving in Championship

|

Everton are interested in signing Birmingham City’s 18-year-old midfielder George Hall in January with a £3 million offer being rejected for the youngster in the summer, according to Football Insider

Hall predominantly plays as a creative central midfielder for his side in the Championship and has appeared 20 times for Birmingham City since making his debut in a 2-1 loss to Queen’s Park Rangers at the end of last season.

Although he has struggled to consolidate his place in the starting lineup at St Andrew’s, only managing 5 starts so far this season, the midfielder has found the net this season, scoring an early goal in a 1-1 draw with Watford earlier in the season.

Since then, he has appeared 18 times in the Championship, with his side flying high in 8th in the Championship currently, just 2 points off the play-off positions.

According to Football Insider, Everton have joined the race to sign the 18-year-old but Birmingham are also desperate to keep the teenager on their books. Liverpool are also reportedly plotting a move and Leeds United had a bid of around £3 million rejected in the summer.

Frank Lampard is renowned for his development of young players, especially for his time at Chelsea and his promotion of the likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham to the first team, all of whom have become England regulars.
