Everton interested in signing Swedish international striker

Everton are interested in signing Sweden international and Coventry City striker, Victor Gyokores according to recent reports

Gyokores is having a decent season so far for Coventry City in the Championship, scoring 9 goals in 16 starts so far this season and has helped his side to get back on track after a bumpy start to the season, losing 4 of their opening 5 games and only grabbing their first win 8 games in against Middlesborough.

However, since then Coventry have been in excellent form, winning 7 of their last 9 fixtures and only losing 1 in that time.

The Swede scored an impressive 17 goals in the Championship last season, leading to him being linked with a move to Everton during the summer transfer window as a replacement for Richarlison. Still, the club opted for Neal Maupay from Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, with Everton’s current number 9, Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of action through injury and backup striker Neal Maupay struggling for goals, reinforcements in the striker position could still be needed.

According to Football League World, Everton remain interested in acquiring the 24-year-old’s services, alongside fellow Premier League clubs West Ham and Crystal Palace. However, Coventry City are ‘desperate’ to tie the striker down to a long-term deal in their race for promotion going into the halfway point in the Championship season [via MSN]

His contract at his current club expires at the end of next season so if he doesn’t agree to a new deal, the toffees could lower the cost of a potential deal.
