Having only signed Richarlison so far in the summer transfer window, we’re expected to conclude more deals before the deadline. One such deal could see James Lea-Siliki joining the club from Rennes.
According to L’Equipe, as cited by This is Futbol, we’re interested in signing the midfielder from Rennes following his impressive display against us in the French side’s 4-1 triumph.
While we may admire, and look to sign the 22-year-old midfielder, we aren’t devoid of competition in the race to secure his services. It’s reported that Benfica and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the midfielder.
The midfielder contributed towards five league goals in 32 appearances last season for Rennes, scoring three goals and registering two assists. The 22-year-old is regarded for his versatility; he can function as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder or on the left side of midfield.
One of his primary strengths is his superb dribbling ability, and subsequently, he’s often fouled. He’s also recognised for his propensity to make key passes. That said, his discipline and tackling do require improvement.
