According to Le10 Sport, Everton have ‘no final agreement’ with Gabriel Magalhaes and Arsenal are ‘likely to advance’ this summer, so the 22-year-old’s future is up in the air again.
Everton were in advanced talks with LOSC Lille previously, but no deal materialised and now the Toffees risk missing out on Gabriel. Le10 Sport say the centre-back’s ‘price set’ is €30m, so he won’t break the bank.
Carlo Ancelotti is on the hunt for a defender to accompany Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate next season after Everton loaned out Matthew Pennington and released Phil Jagielka & Ashley Williams last summer.
The Merseysiders have been linked with Jean-Clair Todibo, Marash Kumbulla and Kristoffer Ajer, but their interest in Gabriel has been a constant.
The 22-year-old joined Lille for £2.7m in January 2017 and has gone on to make 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. Gabriel has made 34 appearances across the board this season and would improve Everton’s backline, but it remains to be seen if they’ll beat out Arsenal’s interest.
Chelsea were previously hijacking Everton’s bid to sign Gabriel, but now the Blues have another London outfit standing in their way.
