Everton handed boost in pursuit of transfer, domino effect could occur

|

Everton have shown signs of progress under Marco Silva but a recent decline in form has shown there is still work to be done, which could push the Toffees to be active during the January transfer window.

Silva does face a battle to retain key players within his ranks, with Idrissa Gueye attracting vast interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, and news from South America suggests a domino effect could be around the corner.

Fox Sports states Boca Juniors are pushing ahead with a move for Cruz Azul midfielder Ivan Marcone, which could allow Colombia international Wilmar Barrios to complete a proposed move to the Premier League.

Should Barrios move to Goodison Park, Everton could then accept PSG’s advances for Gueye – although they would still command a hefty price for the 29-year-old Senegal international.

Barrios, four years younger than Gueye, could prove to be a stellar recruit for Marco Silva’s side and should be more than capable of filling any void that Gueye’s departure would leave.
