Everton returned to action on Sunday following the September international break as we hosted West Ham United at Goodison Park.

It was a day to forget largely for Marco Silva’s side as we fell to a 3-1 defeat as Andriy Yarmolenko opened his account for Manuel Pellegrini and his a brace inside of the opening 31 minutes. Although Gylfi Sigurdsson made it a one-goal game as he found the net in first-half stoppage time, Marko Arnautovic tied the points up just after the hour mark.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t that Everton were that bad, the opposition were just better and individual errors cost us hugely on the day and a few players were hugely poor with their individual showings.

As the above graphic implies though, Lucas Digne can certainly hols his head high with statistics website WhoScored giving him a rating of 7.87 for his efforts on the day. Sigurdsson also needs a mention as the only other player to get a rating of 7 from the 90 minutes.

If there is a positive to take, Digne is it as he tried to affect things at both ends of the pitch, but that’s not going to much comfort for many as we go into a new week.
