With Ashley Williams enduring a downbeat ending to last season and a new gaffer at the helm, many Evertonians are beginning to wonder if the defender’s future isn’t elsewhere.

So thoughts have been turning to a replacement. One name linked with a move to Goodison is the Croat, Domagoj Vida, who is currently earning his Turkish Lira with Besiktas.

The Toffee Blues article  mentions Vida’s failure to settle with the Turkish side, though he has only been with them since January.

Hardly time to figure out where to source an excellent Turkish coffee you’d think.

Twitter is beginning to pick up on this rumour though.

Vida is 29 and can list Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Kiev as former clubs and an impressive 58 caps for Croatia.

A serious, experienced international and by all accounts a tough non-nonsense cookie. So what has Everton fans reaction on Twitter been like?

Oh.

Oh dear.

Oh dear me.

It would seem many Evertonians are not treating this link very seriously.

Vital Everton’s take is to watch the TV tomorrow (Thursday 21st Jun) at 7 p.m. and see how Mr. Vida performs against Argentina and a certain Mr. Messi.

Snuff out the worlds #1 player and I expect Bluenose’s opinion to change from looking at Vida’s (admittedly) terrible hair-cut to shouting for Silva to go get the Croat and build a blue wall around him for the coming season!
