Everton Eyeing Move for Watford Forward

|

Everton could be weighing up a move for Watford forward Joao Pedro, with the Blues in desperate need of attacking reinforcements before the end of the window.

The Brazilian striker is the latest name in a long list of players to be linked with a move to Goodison Park this month, though the club have yet to sign a single player.

Pedro could be seen as an alternative to Dutch international Arnaut Danjuma, who’s loan move from Villarreal collapsed due to a late approach from Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

The 21-year-old has become a firm favourite at Vicarage Road since his arrival from Brazilian outfit Fluminense in January 2020, with Hornets Boss and former Everton defender Slaven Bilic recently describing him as being “on another level”.

A young and versatile player, Pedro can play across the front in attack and could plug the Richarlison-shaped hole left in Everton’s forward line.

Indeed, similar to that of his countryman, Pedro could also have a decent resale value, should he fulfil his potential.

However, Everton will need to make an appointment in the vacant manager’s position prior to completing any transfers, leaving the Blues with a race against time to recruit in key areas before the window closes.

With a muted attack, the club have known since last summer of the urgent need to strengthen up-front, and with the departure of academy graduate Anthony Gordon looking increasingly likely, with both Chelsea and Newcastle United expressing an interest in the winger, Everton could well end the month even weaker than how we started it.

Former Stoke City and West Ham United forward Marko Armautovic has also been linked with a move to Goodison Park, with the Austrian international currently plying his trade at Serie A side Bologna.

With just a few days left for clubs to conduct their business, surely we will see some movement before the window slams shut.
