Everton enter advanced negotiations for €50m target, loads of fans react: ‘Phenomenal signing’

|

Everton’s interest in Ajax winger David Neres has long been documented, but the Toffees’ efforts seemed to go cold in May when a move for the Brazilian was considered an ‘impossible’ dream.

Now, though, the links between the Blues and the 22-year-old have returned with a bang, as UOL Esporte understand we have entered into advanced negotiations over a possible transfer, as Paris Saint-Germain have hit a major roadblock in their quest for the Sao Paolo-born star’s signature.

According to the Brazilian publication, PSG have also met with Neres’ representatives recently in a bid to keep the ball rolling in their favour, but a move is still far from completion as the winger is concerned over his potential game time in the French capital.

Thomas Tuchel’s squad is brimming with attacking talent, so it is considered essential that a spot is freed for Neres’ arrival, with former Manchester United and Real Madrid creative midfielder Angel Di Maria the man expected to make way.

However, the Parisian giants are struggling to offload the Argentine as he is keen to see out the final two years of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, having come off what he feels was one of the best seasons of his career in Europe.

We, on the other hand, present an opportunity Neres is longing for and one that Tuchel cannot offer in France; Premier League football. UOL also feel the Everton transfer delegation find it easy negotiating a move for the Ajax star on account of our success in bringing Richarlison and Bernard to Merseyside last summer.

PSG still hold an advantage over us, though, as Leonardo is expected to take up a role at Les Parc des Princes as their transfer coordinator, having departed AC Milan at the end of May, where he acted as the Rossoneri’s Technical Director.

Leonardo, himself, coveted a move for Neres while he was still occupying his position at the San Siro, but a deal could not be pushed through after AC failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League, meaning it would be an uphill struggle to meet Ajax’s €50million (£44.5m) valuation.

When word reached Reddit that we have reportedly entered advanced negotiations over a move for Neres, this is how some Everton fans reacted…
