Everton down under – Western Sydney Wanderers preview

|

After defeating Celtic on penalties in the opening game of the Sydney Super Cup on Sunday morning, Everton face high-flying Western Sydney Wanderers who currently sit second in the A-league at 8:45 tomorrow morning. (UK time)

After a goal-less draw against Celtic, Everton ran out 4-2 winners on penalties and will be without Tom Davies who has returned home after picking up a knee injury in training before the Celtic game. Abdoulaye Doucoure had a bang above his knee and could be in contention whereas, Yerry Mina will be out after picking up a hamstring injury.

After being labelled the ‘best player‘ on the pitch in the last game, Isaac Price could start the game in midfield again, and even though the game is to keep fitness levels up, Lampard will be hoping for a better viewing in front of goal but Ashley Cole knows the players will not be taking the game for granted.

“We’ve heard a lot about Western Sydney Wanderers and the atmosphere the stadium can generate. We know they are doing well in the A-League and have some good individual players. As staff, we will make preparations ahead of the game.” – EvertonFC.com

After the final game in Australia, Everton’s next game is at home to Wolves on Boxing Day and with Conor Coady ineligible to play against his parent club, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane will be looking to impress as they both want to be the player alongside James Tarkowski in defence.
