According to the Independent, Everton have concerns that the current break in play could still halt proceedings with the hopeful transfer arrival of Gabriel from Lille.

The Blues are hopefully going to be busy in the summer transfer window as Carlo Ancelotti gets his first real chance to start moulding the side into how he wants it to look.

You’d think he’s going to get proper backing in the window, too, and it looks as though the club is already acting quickly with Gabriel agreeing personal terms and an offsite medical being passed.

However, the report also claims that there is a bit of a worry on the Blues’ minds that the current pause in the season will provide Gabriel with a chance to change his mind and for other clubs to come in with offers.

Indeed, in a normal year a pre-window deal would be fairly straightforward and quick to complete, but with everyone on lockdown, it’s hard to see how he can come into the club and finish proceedings, whilst the Blues and Lille are also trying to finish the deal off.

A fee has been agreed between the two clubs, but other sides have also managed to reach such an agreement and so the fear is they could get in the player’s ear and change his mind.

For now, it seems the Blues are still in the driving seat but it remains to be seen exactly what is going to happen in these unprecedented times.
